Sharing my love of cooking, painting, writing, and my afro. Freedom Fro was created as an experiment to dive deeper into my creative outlets, maturely. I use the word ‘mature’ quite loosely, because I’m probably going to grow old before I grow up.
Hair: my one vanity. People always say that you want what you don’t have. I spent most of my first 30 years on this planet loathing the afro I was born with. Braids, buns, extensions, chemical relaxers, hats, ponytails — I never learned to embrace my afro until I found someone I could trust to take a pair of scissors to it. Chop-Chop-Chop, carving out new life and removing more than a decade of fried kinky chunks, I dubbed my hair “Freedom Fro,” in the summer of 2010, when I was able to experience how it was meant to sit upon my head. Of all the names I was brainstorming for my blog, Freedom Fro stuck. It’s not great for google searches, but, my Freedom Fro represents a new chapter in my life, where I move how the wind blows me, rather than fighting against it.

I am a BBA Graduate with a creative soul. I chose to get my degree in Human Resources because I like taking care of people and I value training, development and creating a working environment where teams and individuals can come together.
I fantasize about one day owning a small, shabby (but immaculately clean) community-focussed diner where I can cook whatever I feel like when I wake up in the morning.
There are several who are on a similar hair journey. Check out KimmayTube, naptural85, and rustic beauty or nikkimai2003 on you tube. You will be inspired!
